Deer Park Bond FAQ--Is the new proposed playground included in the bond? No, the bond covers only the new building and updates to the utilities as needed. The Booster Club is raising funds for the playground separately through local sources and business donations.
They are currently planning to update the playground in stages.

Deer Park Bond FAQ--Why does the bond language reference the cost to tax payers in the first year only? Will the amount change after the first year? Each year, Montana state determines how much a "mil" is worth and therefore the tax impact can change either up or down each year. The first year tax impact is the amount at the interest rate and mil when the data was collected. We will sell the bonds in smaller chunks, so we are only spending as needed and only selling the bonds as needed. Deer Park is striving to build the replacement building with the least amount of cost possible. If the building does not cost $4 million, Deer Park will not sell all the bonds and the tax impact will be less. Also, as development occurs in the district, the tax burden will be spread out.

Deer Park Bond FAQ--What about grants and donations to lower the overall cost? What if the building does not cost $4 million? The building committee, board of trustees, administration, and Booster Club will work to obtain all possible grants and donations to help offset the overall cost of the project. We are open to community contractors and vendors supporting our project in any way possible such as donation of time or materials. Deer Park will work with a local lending entity to sell bonds in chunks instead of all bonds at once. If we come in under the proposed budget, not all the bonds will be sold and the tax impact will be less.
The Daily Interlake will publish biographies for each of the candidates running in our School Board trustee election. They will be in the newspaper Friday April 25.
Join us at Deer Park for our upcoming Community Meeting to learn more about the bond and ask questions. We will offer tours of the spaces to be replaced, a Q&A session, as well as refreshments. Please encourage your neighbors to join you!
